{FREE} Forest Animals Coloring Pages with Traceable Fun Facts!

Image
You can use this {FREE} Forest Animals Coloring Pages with Traceable Fun Facts Packet in so many ways! I made this packet to go with our Forest Animals Poppins Book Nook theme.  Forests are one of our absolute favorite places to explore!  Normally our kids play in the southern humid forests of southeast Texas, but this summer they got to check out some higher mountain forests too!  They had a blast camping, boating, and hiking... which go right along with the book we want to share this month: Just Me and My Dad by Mercer Mayer. Amazon Affiliate Link:   In the story, they encounter a mischievious bear, and a few other animals.  While we didn't see any bears in our forests on this trip, we did see deer, squirrels, birds, rabbits, and we even smelled a skunk!  I was very excited to put together this {FREE} packet that showcases eleven forest animals and some fun facts about them! These coloring pages can be just coloring pages...or they can be so much more!  You can

Patriotic Straw Rockets!

Image
These patriotic straw rockets are perfect for a 4th of July craft or science activity...they're also super fun to make any time of year! You and your kids can make straw rockets to celebrate holidays, as part of a science lesson about force and motion, or just for fun! All you need are straws, paper, tape, crayons, and scissors! Cut the paper into rectangles about 2" x 3", and let your kiddos decorate them. They will get rolled up in a moment, so you really only need to decorate half the paper. Roll the paper around a straw and tape it in place.  Make sure it is loose enough to move up and down the straw easily. Finally, fold the top down and tape it in place.  Make sure it is air tight! Ta da!  That's it!  Now fire your rockets by blowing into the straw! All our kids loved this, and even the 2-year old was able to figure out how to make the rockets work.  My preschooler wanted fire on his rocket, and we had one girl who just made h

Preschool Math With Wiggly Eyes

Image
Preschool math is most fun and easiest to learn when your kiddos are playing!  Today I'm sharing a super easy and super fun way to practice counting...with wiggly eyes! If you haven't had a chance to read how preschoolers' brains work , make sure you check out this post .  It explains why fun "play" activities (like wiggly eye math) help children learn! We've been working on counting from 11-20 a lot.  Counting from 1-10 (and even from 20-50!) was easy, but we keep mixing up numbers around thirteen and fourteen.  I have a ton of wiggly eyes at home, so when we went on an extended camping trip, I put a bag-full of them into my backpack.  I had the perfect math activity for when my kiddo inevitably decided he needed something to do! To set your own preschool math activity, simply sprinkle the wiggly eyes across a sandy area and then cover them with a few handfuls of sand.   I told my son we had some "monsters" leave some st

Fizzy Flower Sensory Dough!

Image
Fizzy flower sensory dough is perfect for spring and summer sensory science...and it smells absolutely divine! This dough was super fun to make, play with, and fizz, but I am absolutely in love with how it smells!  When we were done, I wanted to keep the mess out just because it smelled so wonderful! The whole activity took about an hour, and was even more fun because we used fresh flowers from outside!  This is a fantastic science/sensory activity that would go great with our Preschool Botany Class ! To get started, let your kiddos pick a few flowers of their choice and pull the petals off: Add one cup of baking soda and 2 1/2 tablespoons of hand lotion. Depending on your lotion, you may need more or less than 2 1/2 tablespoons.  You want a nice crumbly texture that holds together when you squeeze it.  At this point, our kiddos wanted to add more flowers! And let the sensory exploration begin! We had "flying snowmen" and all
