{FREE} Plants & Animals in the Tropical Rainforest Biome Cards

Image
Tropican rainforests are full of plants and animals that you don't find anywhere else in the world! These free Plants & Animals in the Tropical Rainforest Biome Cards are a fantastic way to introduce this incredible biome to your kiddos! The tropical rainforest biome is SO fun to learn about because it is SO unique!  Plants that don't need soil, animals that live in plants, and so much more!  There are hundreds of thousands  plant and animal species that call the tropical rainforest home--there is no way I could possibly include every animal, or even every type of animal in these cards.  However, I have done my best to showcase some of the very cool critters and plants you will find in the Tropical Rainforest biome in the Americas. There are tropical rainforests in the Americas, Africa, and Asia, and each has slightly different plant and animal life.  These cards are specific to the Amazon Tropical Rainforest. What animal is the biggest rodent? What is the bi

Preschool Rainbow Grid Game

Image
Rainbows, dice, spring, counting, number recognition, multi-sensory, and more! This little grid game packs a ton of learning fun into one simple activity! My kids love spring, rainbows, and dice, but we haven't made a grid game for a while.  This week's dice theme seemed like the perfect excuse to make a new one! Grid games are a fun way to teach or reinforce counting, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, addition, and digitizing skills.  Use this game with a rainbow or spring theme! To play, simply roll the dice (use only one die if you're working with younger kids), add or count up the dots, and cover that many objects on your grid game.  Since we are using a rainbow theme, we placed "clouds" (cottonballs) on each rainbow we needed to cover.  You could also use coins, torn paper, cheerios, counters, or any other small object to cover the items on a grid game! We like to print one for each child and play until everyone "wins"

Our DisneyKids Preschool Playdate

Image
Our kids are absolutely in love with Disney, so when we had a chance to host a DisneyKids Preschool Playdate, we were thrilled! Disclosure :   I received free products in order to host the Disney Kids Preschool Playdate. The opinions expressed here are my own. #DisneyKids A DisneyKids preschool playdate doesn't need to be crazy big and fancy...a love of Disney and a few party props are all you need to have a great time with your kiddos and some friends!  A craft, game, and food will easily fill an hour-long playdate, and then you can visit with your friends while your kiddos re-create the game or play with toys! Here are some of the highlights from our playdate (or our Disney Party, as the kids started calling it!): #1: Food! Everyone loves to eat!  We served fruit in a Mickey Mouse cake pan, Mickey's Peanut Butter & Jelly Pinwheels, and pretzels with yogurt dip.  The yogurt dip is just yogurt, but preschoolers love  to dip things!  The kids dipped both th

Preschool Butterfly Songs

Image
Spring is in full swing, and we are singing our butterfly songs at preschool time, in the car, and everywhere in between! Whenever we go to the science museum, the kids always want to go into the "butterfly habitat," and ever time, they hope that a butterfly will land on them! Odds are pretty good -- there are a lot of butterflies in the exhibit -- but, these butterfly songs are a guaranteed butterfly encounter!  At, least, a guaranteed imaginary one!! These three songs are easy to sing, easy to remember, and easy to use with hand motions!  Using them as finger plays reinforces the concepts and adds an element of coordination to the song.  My youngest preschoolers love making a little caterpillar with their fingers and "tucking him in" on the leaf! The first and last butterfly songs reinforce the butterfly life cycle and the middle song reviews numbers and a butterfly's favorite food: nectar! I have plans to make little videos for each of these, b

Weather Science Experiment: Warm & Cold Front Model

Image
It's a weather science experiment!!  How do you explain a cold front or warm front to your kiddos?  With a great science project - a visual, hands-on model! Because this is such a visual activity, you can easily do it with a large or small group in almost any age!  Our kids were preschool through 3rd grade, and it made sense to all of them! In order to make sure the model makes sense to your kiddos, a little prior knowledge is helpful.  We already knew that clouds are full of water and some clouds are warmer than other clouds.   As we were getting started, I explained that a cloud front, or big pile of clouds, behaves much like the water in a cup since it is made mostly of water.  I asked the kids what they thought happened when a pile of hot water hits a pile of cold water.  We hypothesized about fronts meeting in the sky and in our bowl.  Then we prepared the warm and cold water. I used a snowflake-covered glass for the cold water.  Just fill it up and ad
