Squirrel Action Rhyme - Rhymes for Kids

Image
This week we're talking about squirrels and acorns, and I'm sharing a fun action rhyme for kids all about squirrels! Our featured book for this week is Scaredy Squirrel (image below is an Amazon affiliate link): This squirrel rhyme for kids is perfect to do after you read the story...and it's fun with one kiddo or a classroom! After you read the story, do the action rhyme 2-3 times, and then find a picture in the story and discuss one or two of the squirrel fun facts below! Squirrel Action Rhyme for Kids: I am a squirrel in a tall, tall tree.   Stretch up tall toward the sky! I like to look around and see, see, see!     Make hands into binocular shapes and look around! I am picking acorns for my lunch, "Pick" invisible acorns out of the air. I love the way they crunch, crunch, crunch! Make exagerrated crunches with your mouth. Sometimes I stretch my arms up to the sky, Spread arms out wide. Take a leap, and start

Bubbling Pumpkin Science Experiments

Bubbles, science experiments, dry ice, and pumpkins! What more could you ask for in a science projct for the fall?!! We start doing pumpkin and Halloween science experiments as soon as we can--and the pumpkins usually show up in grocery stores towards the end of September! This awesome set of experiments also features dry ice, another favorite science tool around here. (Check out our collection of dry ice experiments here!) More on the dry ice in a moment! Foil Leaf Preschool Art

We're sharing this leaf preschool art project as part of the Weekly Virtual Book Club for Kids' leaf theme this week! This colorful preschool art project lets your kiddos exercise their fine motor skills while designing a cool leaf, engaging in a unique sensory art experience, and reading a favorite fall book! And it's super easy to set up...I literally spent 30 seconds gathering supplies! Simple Supplies: * outdoor area with lots of leaves * permanent markers * aluminum foil * scissors * paper towels or butcher paper to cover your work area How to Make Foil Leaves Preschool Art: 1- First go outside and find "inspiration" leaves. Compare their sizes, shapes, and colors. (hands on math!) 2- Choose your favorite leaf. Let your kiddos trace it onto the aluminum foil. Younger preschoolers will need help with this. (I included toddlers in our preschool day and pre-traced a few leaves for them.) If your leaves have big veins, y

Apple Piece Names

Use this apple themed way to practice spelling and recognizing names as you start school this year! We are kicking off the school year with apple themed activities for the Virtual Book Club for Kids!  Today I'm sharing a super simple (and edible!) way for your kiddos to practice spelling their names! This is doubly fun because you can nibble on apples, talk about letters, and spend time with your kiddos' names all at the same time! Preparation is easy! Use a marker to write each child's name on a piece of colored paper and slide the paper inside a sheet protector. The colored paper makes a nicer contrast for the apple slices, but white paper works also. Give each child a pile of apple sticks and let them "build" their name using the paper as a guide! Are you doing an apple theme this year? If so, you should check out my collection of apple activities--everything from science and math to literacy! Just CLICK HERE to go to our ap
