Letter A Free Printable Minibook Alphabet Series

Image
I have a daughter getting ready to read, so I made this set of free printable minibooks! Each minibook focuses on a letter of the alphabet and since I know a lot of preschoolers work on letters, I am sharing them here! Today's book is the Letter A! Each book is full of about nine coloring-book style pictures that start with the featured letter. You just print them off, cut out the pages, and staple them together! Or, even better, let your preschooler or kindergarten kiddo cut out the pages! They get to practice writing their name on the front page, trace the letter on the front page, and see the letter again on each page in the minibook! If you want to play with the pages more, you could print two sets, paste them on construction paper, cut them out, and play memory or matching games. It just reinforces the sounds that A can make as you remind your children that all the words in this book start with A. My preschoolers LOVE "reading" their books after they color

ALPHABET! Free Printable Mini Books

Image
These free printable mini books are the perfect mini books to help your preschooler begin to recognize the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make! Each free printable comes in a coloring-book style mini book that you staple together for your preschool child. Let your kiddos color the pictures, identify the letter, and talk about the words in their mini books. (Did you know that coloring strengthens the same muscles that kids will need for writing?!) One of the signals I had that my preschooler was ready to start learning to read was when we were talking about the letter A one day and she said, "I know all the words that start with A. All the words in my A Book start with A: alligator, ant, apple, airplane, acorn..." and then she got distracted. Short attention span. BUT she knew "all the words" in her little book started with A. I knew we were ready for the next step. Some kids in preschool enjoy coloring book worksheet-style pages...and

Free Preschool Printable: Shadow Matching Cards--How to Survive as a Shark

Image
This free preschool printable goes great with shark themes, ocean themes, just for fun, and... one of our favorite books! Every year Innovation Press publishes some of the most incredible science themed picture books, story books, and chapter books for kids. I always think they cannot possibly get better...and then they do! One of my favorites from this last season is How to Survive as a Shark . In a comic book style, conversational story format, a father-like shark welcomes some new baby great white sharks to the ocean and proceeds to give them the basic survival skills they will need to grow up. Shark biology, ocean food chains, and so much more are all included in this fun and friendly book. ALL my kids love it--from the 2-year old to the 11-year old!  Amazon Affiliate Link: Since everyone loves it so much, I'm making a lapbook for the older kids to start a shark study that goes with the picture book. Our preschoolers always want in on the cutting,

Octopus Science Experiments for Preschoolers

Image
This fun science experiment lets your preschoolers explore what it might be like to be an octopus! Did you know that octopuses have NO bones?! What would that feel like?! What are bones anyway? Where are your bones? Have a discussion with your preschoolers about what bones are, where they are, what they do, and what it might be like to not have any. Then introduce this simple science activity! Octopus Science Experiment: Preparation: 1- Draw an octopus on a gallon-sized zip-lock baggie with a permanent marker. 2- Cut a hole, about an inch in diameter (mine might have been a little less), in a paper plate or bowl. This is your octopus "cave!" With your kiddos: 1- Show them the octopus! Ask what they know about octopuses! Tell them that they don't have any bones. How would you walk if you didn't have any bones? Could you swim? Octopuses can quickly take water into their bodies and spray it out to "swim" in the ocean.
