Learning with the LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum!!

There are a lot of electronic devices for kids on the market, and it can be hard to choose the right one for your children.  LeapFrog's new Leap Pad Platinum stands out among tablets and toys as an exceptional solution for parents, teachers, and children!

We have used a lot of electronic toys, tablets, and other devices for children, and I am happy to say that the LeapPad Platinum is our favorite so far.  Today I'm sharing 5 reasons to love this tablet!

#1:  It is EASY for children to learn with!  The design and apps are very child-friendly and intuitive.  For example, my kids created their own avatars by themselves using pictures they took of themselves with the LeapPad Platinum.  They also figured out how to navigate the screens and use every single app and demo I put on the tablet by themselves.  The stylus is attached to the center, which makes it easy for left- and right-handed children to use too!

#2:  Children feel like they are playing while they learn everything from numbers and letters to in-depth details about the human body!  The tablet comes with one free app, four demos, and a HUGE app store full of (over 1000!) educational and FUN apps, most ranging from $1-$10.  Games integrate age-appropriate learning with fun activities, child-friendly language, and great visuals!  I was delighted one afternoon when I heard Captain Plasma announce "White blood cells are like little ninja warriors!" (from The Human Body app...pictured below).

#3:  The LeapPad Platinum appeals to a huge age range of children!  LeapFrog suggests appropriate ages for the LeapPad Platinum are 3-9 years old.  Our experience has been with 2-8 year olds...and they all love it!  You can make up to three separate named "accounts", your children can each "log in" to their own account, and the account will save things like their level in a game, different scores, their "pet's" status, and more!  You can also have a fourth "guest" account that doesn't save everything, but allows friends and others to play too.

Really, I cannot say enough about this point!  It is very rare to find a learning device for children that is perfectly age appropriate for all of the kids we work with.  To be clear, between our children and their little friends, we frequently have kiddos the following ages here: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8.  And every one of them has found learning activities on their precise levels on this tablet.

#4:  Excellent Specifications!  The screen is large (7 inches) and has great resolution (1024 x 600), the battery lasts for more than five hours, it interfaces with wifi, has a 2 MP front and back camera, 8 GB storage (brilliant, since my kids LOVE taking pictures and movies!), has a shatter-safe screen, protective bumper, and the power button is on the side in a less-likely-to-be-accidentally-pushed location!

#5: Safety!  The LeapPad Platinum's browser, LeapSearch, lets the kids browse safely through educational videos and other hand-picked content.  On top of that, you can set parental controls to limit other use!

I absolutely recommend the LeapPad Platinum to everyone!!  Here are just a few of the places we've used it:

* During "School Time" when we separate into "center" activities!
* In the car, on long trips!
* While waiting for a doctor appointment!
* As math and reading time treats!

Really, the possibilities are endless!

Have you tried the LeapPad Platinum?  What about one of the other LeapPads?  I'd love to answer any questions you have about our experiences with it!
