Our DisneyKids Preschool Playdate

Our kids are absolutely in love with Disney, so when we had a chance to host a DisneyKids Preschool Playdate, we were thrilled!

A DisneyKids preschool playdate doesn't need to be crazy big and fancy...a love of Disney and a few party props are all you need to have a great time with your kiddos and some friends!  A craft, game, and food will easily fill an hour-long playdate, and then you can visit with your friends while your kiddos re-create the game or play with toys!

Here are some of the highlights from our playdate (or our Disney Party, as the kids started calling it!):

#1: Food!

Everyone loves to eat!  We served fruit in a Mickey Mouse cake pan, Mickey's Peanut Butter & Jelly Pinwheels, and pretzels with yogurt dip.  The yogurt dip is just yogurt, but preschoolers love to dip things!  The kids dipped both their pretzels and fruit in the yogurt.

Mickey's Peanut Butter & Jelly Pinwheels were super fun and SO easy to make!  I laid out about a dozen pieces of bread, rolled them all flat with a rolling pin (my 3-year old helped with this--she thought it was brilliant!), and then spread a layer of peanut butter and jelly on top of each slice of flattened bread.  Then, cut off the crusts and roll up each "pinwheel."  I cut each "sandwich" into three pieces and stuck a toothpick in because (my kids will tell you) that everything tastes better with a toothpick in it!

We also had brownies and juice (not pictured!).

#2: Craft: Disney Puppets

Disney World provided us with these character cut-outs and paper lunch bags to make puppets.  Half the kids just had fun coloring on the character pages while the other half actually cut them out and glued them onto the bags.  We have a lot of young preschoolers, and they just love coloring on pages that match their favorite Disney characters--Elsa and Jake (from the Neverland Pirates) were most popular here!  You can get the same printable pages from the DisneySide Website or use any Disney coloring book!

#3: Game!

We played the Disney Characters Charades Game!  It went over wonderfully, and all the kids wanted to keep playing!  They only stopped because we told them we needed to eat, and then they could play with each other afterwards if they still wanted to!

We played a variation on charades to make it appropriate for our younger preschool audience.  Disney World provided us with pictures of some of the most popular Disney characters.  (You could print your own or cut some out of a coloring book!)  To play, we spread the characters out on a counter and let each child take turns picking a character (they had to point to it so I knew who they were trying to be), and then act like that character until the other kids guessed who they were.  To accomodate our kiddos, we let them act, sing, dance, or make other noises to help us figure out who they were.  It was fun to see who everyone picked--at least half the girls chose Elsa for one of their turns!  My favorite actions included watching the girls sprinkle pixie dust around themselves and sing "Let it Go!"

If you have older kids or more time, you may be able to play more games (like a Disney character BINGO or Pin the Mouth on Mickey!), but these worked perfectly for us!

Everyone was also super excited to wear their reversible Sofia the 1st/Jake & the Neverland Pirate hat and take home a Disney World backpack!  They used maps of Disney World like pirate treasure maps and played with the Disney washable tatoos!

Do your kids love everything to do with Disney?  Are you planning a trip to Disney World or hosting a Disney-themed party or playdate?  I'd love to hear about it and see pictures!  Feel free to send me an email, comment, or stop by my Facebook page!
