SmartLab Extreme Secret Formula Lab Kit & Giveaway & Science Experiment!!

We received SmartLab's Extreme Secret Formula Lab Kit as a gift. We loved doing the included science projects so much that I contacted SmartLab, and they agreed to offer one to you (my wonderful readers!) in a giveaway!!

Make sure you read all the way to the end to enter the giveaway, get a special discount code, and see the first science experiment we did with the kit!

We think the star feature in the Extreme Secret Formula Lab kit is the Mad Lab Journal.  This is not just a journal!  It is a full-color, science-filled instruction manual packed with fun information, trivia, and journaling space!  It could easily retail by itself for the cost of the entire kit, but the kit also comes with two test tubes and lids, a mixing bowl, a funnel, a beaker, a test tube stand, a mix-and-measure scoop, an eye-dropper, a sticker sheet, and a small baggie of glow powder!  My kids declared "We are scientists like Bill Nye," as they held up the test tubes!

We had to look through the entire Mad Lab Journal before my daughter settled on the first experiment:  making her own perfume!  We had all the extra supplies we needed (a bowl, a coffee filter, a spoon, water, and smelly things--my daughter chose flowers from outside!) so we started right away.

There were "jobs" for all the kids (2 - 6 years old).  They all loved helping, though the two oldest (a 4-year old and a 6-year old) stayed focused on the task the best.  The kids mashed the flowers, strained the "juice," and poured the perfume into a test tube.  I love that the lid for the test tube (pictured to the right) actually makes a great seal and does not leak any perfume!  My six-year old was surprised that the perfume actually smelled different than each of the flowers!  She told me the reason the funnel was included was so that kids could pour stuff into test tubes.  It was a fun experiment to compare the before and after scents, and my daughter was very pleased with her jar of perfume!

The kit also includes instructions for 19 other fun experiments, including a "glowing volcano," "technicolor foam," and "glowing alien blood!"

My six-year old is in love with it and wants to do a new experiment every day.  I love to see her so engaged in the learning process.  This kit is perfect for homeschoolers and the Mad Lab Journal has experiments that could be used in classrooms and with other groups!   I am happy to recommend the Extreme Secret Formula Lab, and am very excited for this giveaway!!

Before we start the giveaway, I want to tell you about SmartLab's Freezone!  I love companies that are so dedicated to education that they give material away.  SmartLab's Freezone has more science experiments, free activities, printables, and trivia.  The included science projects and activities are a lot of fun, so check it out here!!

SmartLab is also offering you all a 25% off discount on everything at their website!!  All you have to do is enter this code when you check out:  BLOGDEAL0513.  Aren't they awesome!!

Okay, so on to the giveaway!!  To enter the giveaway, just use the handy Rafflecopter form below!  The giveaway will be open until midnight EST on Saturday, April 13th and is limited to residents of the continental United States.  I love the rest of you too, but mailing is pricey!!  I'll announce the winner and contact you via email.  If you don't respond within 48 hours, I will tell Rafflecopter to choose another winner.  Good luck!!
