Fingerprint Name Tree Preschool Christmas Craft

This Fingerprint Name Tree Craft was the perfect combination of art, Christmas, and name recognition for my preschoolers and toddlers!  Inspired by Hey Mommy, Chocolate Milk's That Snowman Knows My Name and B-Inspired Mama's Fingerprint Christmas Tree with stamps, I decided to let my kiddos review letters and get their hands messy at the same time.  It was very easy and fun...and the kids love painting!

Simple Supplies:
  • green cardstock
  • white paper
  • colored markers
  • finger paint
  • glue

Easy How-To:

1- Prepare the trees and ornaments:  Cut out a large tree from the green cardstock.  Write the letters of your child's name on the white paper and cut out little "ornaments."

2- Review your child's name and the letters with him or her.  Let your child trace the letters with a finger, practice saying them, and put them in order.  My oldest even made other words with the letters.  Decide how to arrange the name ornaments on the tree.

3- Provide a small pile of glue and let your child glue the name ornaments onto the tree.  Make sure they get in the right order!

4- Provide washable non-toxic paint and let your child get busy decorating the tree!!  My oldest decided her ornaments would look better trimmed.  Our 3-year old was very excited to mix all his colors together, making a very rainbow-ish brown My 2-year old made some dot and line-shaped ornaments, and they were all very happy with the results.

5- Afterwards, we punched holes in them and hung them on the wall.  Everyone likes to see their work on display--especially at Christmastime!!

I may share at any of these parties!
