FREE Preschool Christmas Animals Matching Cards

Image
This adorable Christmas printable activity is perfect for preschoolers and toddlers who love matching games! This set includes 6 Christmas images and their matching "shadows!" There is a Christmas tree card, a Christmas penguin, a Christmas pig, a snowman, a reindeer, and a Christmas polar bear! They are all adorable!! They're perfect for homeschool, classroom stations, or just to pull out when you're getting dinner ready or want a calm-down activity before bed! My older preschooler loves matching games and challenges! She especially likes to try finding more matches than me, lol! Here are a few activities to try: ** Place them all face-up on a table and match them. ** Place them all face-down on a table and take turns finding matches (like a memory game). ** Time how long it takes to match them. ** Print two sets and make identical matches (instead of shadow matches). This is especially helpful for younger preschoolers and toddlers. I actually did this for my 2-year ...

Free Christmas Tree Counting Preschool Printable Counting Activity

Image
A couple years ago I started a tradition of sharing free printable activities you can do with your preschooler! They are always popular, so I imagine a lot of you like them. ðŸ˜‰ So, of course, I am happy to share some more with you this year! This one is sort of like a hidden picture, but you are counting Christmas trees! This game-like activity lets your preschooler practice the following skills: * sorting  * visual discrimination * counting * number writing (this is definitely optional if your preschooler isn't ready for it!) * one-to-one relationship * comparing And it all has a fun Christmas tree theme! (Confession, I started debating with myself about how early I can set up our Christmas tree on November 1st. It hasn't happened yet, but I cannot guarantee that i will wait until after Thanksgiving!) Anyway, I like to print things like this and keep them handy for when my preschoolers want to "do school," and I don't have anything planned. My youngest two enjoy ...

Heart Science Experiment + American Heart Month + CCEI Courses

Image
Heart health is a subject that I am passionate about because it has affected my family closely for many years.   ChildCare Education Institute  offers many health, safety, and nutrition courses for you to become well-informed.  I am excited to share some of these heart-themed activities and resources with you! (Of course, you can do these any time of the month or year, but they are especially perfect for American Heart Month in February!) Heart health is a huge issue in our country--heart disease is actually the leading cause of death for both men and women (1) , and more than half of all Americans have at least one of the 3 highest risk factors (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking) for developing heart disease (2) . I think it's hugely important to teach our children (including preschoolers!) how their hearts work, why they're important, and how to take care of them.  I'm going to share 3 activities you can do with kids of any age ...

Preschool 3D Christmas Ornaments - Book Inspired!

Image
Today Shannon from Whimsy and Purpose is sharing this adorable book-inspired 3D paper ornaments! They are perfect for a Christmas activity with your preschoolers! I love doing crafts with my daughters, almost as much as I love reading to them. Today's craft is making 3D paper ornaments because the 3D effect is still fairly simple, but makes it stand out from the other flat crafts that we do. Because different kids have different skill levels and interests I have provided a printable that includes several options. I hope you and your children enjoy this project as much as we have. Choosing your Book I've included several printables using the art from my book "The Little Pink Elephant", along with a page of templates for making your ornaments fit your child's interests. If you are interested in know more about my book, information can be found on my blog, click here to read the post I wrote about teaching our children to shine! I have...

3 Easy Gingerbread Crafts for Preschoolers - Preschool Christmas Activities

Image
Today Jennifer from  OrganizedHomeschooler.com  is sharing 3 gingerbread crafts that you AND your preschoolers will love! This is the next post in our Preschool Christmas Activities series! The holiday season is such a wonderful time with little children. Their excitement is palpable and contagious. I like to capitalize on that excitement by reading Christmas books and doing crafts. These easy gingerbread crafts are perfect for the holiday season. There are plenty of gingerbread-themed books that could accompany these craft projects, but one of my favorites is The Gingerbread Man: Loose at Christmas by Laura Murray. In this story, the Gingerbread Man and his classmates make gifts for members of their community. They go around town delivering the gifts. This is one of my favorite gingerbread-themed books because the cute rhyming text talks about community helpers. Read the book and then dive into these festive crafts. These cinnamon scented gingerbr...

Thanksgiving Science Experiment: Turkey Toothpaste!

Image
About seven years ago one of my favorite chemistry recipes made " elephant toothpaste " a household phrase. Today, I'm sharing a fun turkey twist you can do with it for a Thanksgiving science experiment: Turkey Toothpaste! These turkey feathers are seriously the best you have ever seen! They just keep coming and coming and coming! You can make them any color you have handy!! Safety Notes: 1- This is meant to be a demonstration performed by an adult. 2- Even though "toothpaste" is in the name, do NOT actually put it in anyone's mouth! 3- Hydrogen peroxide can irritate skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. You can see that it doesn't bother me in the video, but if you are at all concerned, just wear gloves. 4- Hydrogen peroxide will burn your eyes. Wear protective goggles, and have any children within the splash zone wear goggles also. And now... Thanksgiving Science Experiment: Turkey Toothpaste ...
