Pattern Sticks Preschool Activity
These pattern sticks make a great Montessori bin, busy bag, center rotation, or just an activity to do with your kiddos!
We tried out these Missing Number Activity from Planning Playtime and had so much fun with it that I decided to try some more craft stick and clothespin activities. This one was super easy and my 4-year old really enjoyed it. In fact, as soon as she finished playing with the set I made, she started making her own set!
It only took about 3 minutes to make, and we've already used it much, much more than that! Here's the easy How To:
1- Use markers to make colored swatches on the tips of clothespins.
2- Use markers to make patterns on wide craft sticks (we used a set from Craft Project Ideas). Leave a space for a missing pattern on each stick!
3- Set them out and let your preschooler explore with them! Or put them in a busy bag and pull them out next time you're in line somewhere!
Not only do they develop pattern skills, but this preschool math activity also exercises problem solving, analytical thinking, and fine motor muscles (think awesome pre-writing practice)! And, when my kiddo finished playing with them, she wanted to design her own set!
