Insect Themed First Letter Sound Recognition {FREE} Cards

Who loves insects?!! This insect themed first letter sound recognition packet is perfect for preschoolers who love bugs...and perfect for kiddos who would rather look at a picture of them than touch a real one!

Seriously, people, if you didn't know that we love insects, bugs, and spiders by now... well, then this must be your first visit here! We're obsessed!! Scroll down to see more insect and bug resources! ;)

This packet has eight common insects for your preschoolers (or older kids!) to recognize and practice clipping the first letter in each name! This is great fine motor exercise, an important pre-reading skill, and a great chance to review letter sounds!  The insects in this packet are a:

butterfly
ladybug
dragonfly
ant
grasshopper
bee
fly
cockroach

Just print the cards out and pull out some clothespins! You can laminate them for repeated use, put them in a center, at a rotation table, in a Montessori bin, or pull them out for a one-on-one activity with a child. They are loads of fun to use in conjunction with On Beyond Bugs, one of the Cat in the Hat science books!

As always, I LOVE seeing you use these freebies! Feel free to send me an email, leave a note, or stop by my Preschool Powol Packets Facebook page!
